During December, the number of managers and executives appointed into work was slow across most sectors. However, there was certainly still some activity, reflecting the upward swing in the job market highlighted in November’s Management Moves report.
This month’s report shows that there were still certain sectors that made some significant hires:
If you’re interested in pursuing an executive or managerial position in the Public Sector in 2010, you should be aware that there will be fewer jobs out there due to public finance cuts. Research companies and actively pursue those with higher budgets; they are more likely to have something for you.
The majority of the other sectors show no net growth, with an even ratio of the number of appointments to the number of departures. In fact, Leisure, Hotels and Restaurants made exactly 30 appointments and 30 departures. Christmas time has traditionally yielded a high turnover of staff in catering and hospitality, so this is fairly unsurprising.
December’s Management Moves report indicates the end of the Workthing+ analysis for 2009, and the end of a challenging year. We hope that our analysis of these reports has demonstrated to you that there are always jobs out there, providing that you undertake thorough research and know where to look.
